Aussies On Course To Lift Gaming Ban

The Australian Government's independant advisory board has today recommended that it reverse it's ban on gaming.

After an eight year hiatus, the Productivity Commission has recommended that the Aussie Government change the 2001 Interactive Gambling Act, which would allow online casino and poker operators to actively and legally market to residents in Australia.

Such a repeal in the ban would of course be under strict rules regarding customer protection, such as those imposed on the best uk casino sites.

The move is inevitably financially based, the Commission stating that any further lengthening of the ban will mean "a loss of commercial opportunities and tax revenue in Australia".

It also mooted the increased risk in problem gambling, should the eight-year ban extend further.

It has been estimated that the ban on gambling in Australia resulted in over £350,000,000 being wagered to unlicensed casino and poker sites alone last year.
