Betfair Book A Bobby Dazzler

One of the biggest betting events in the UK has been kicking off this week, with it's conclusion due to take place at around 8pm this evening - but forget football, tennis or cricket - this is much more serious.

The betting event in question is of course 'Who Killed Lucy Beale' - an on-going saga of massive proportions that has gripped a nation watching the UK soap, Eastenders.

The plot line for this particular reveal has been over a year in the making, with bookies awash with bets on who killed Ian Beale's beloved little girl.

Many of the best casinos and bookies in the UK have revealed the extent to which customers are betting - the likes of William Hill have said that they are currently taking 2,000 bets a day on the who is the killer.

More astonishingly though is the news from Betfair who, in a PR reveal yesterday, said that they have seen more bets matched on their betting exchange for this fictional murder than the Champions League Final in 2014!

The Hammersmith based betting exchange said of the market...

'There’s still another dose of live action to come in Friday’s show which, judging by the “How is Adam” saga, could see anything happen. Betfair has a character swearing live on the show at 5/1 whilst a complete blackout forcing the show to be cancelled is 25/1.'

The PR guy for Betfair, Cormac Dowling said of the comparison between Eastenders and the Champions League...

'Between the first show starting at 7.30pm and the end of the flashback episode, we took nearly double the amount of bets that we took in-play last year on the Champions League final match between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid!'

'Bobby Beale backed by a number of punters at 100/1 in August last year meaning a good few four figure winners!'

The killer will be revealed live on the BBC later this evening, but this Casino Geezer reckons his bet on Bobby Beale is a cert.
