Betfair Branding Hits Bum Note

The world's leading betting exchanges has continued with it's legendary branding stunts, by signing up with two Olympic athletes destined for glory in the London 2012 games.

Hammersmith betting site Betfair has teamed up with Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin, who are both key members of the British Beach Volley team, in a deal that will see Quick Response codes printed on the backs of their bikini bottoms.

Quick Response codes, or QR's as they are more widely known, as special images used by marketers, whereby customers can scan them using their smartphones in order to get special bonuses or exclusive promotions.

The Olympic event for Beach volley will take place in the grand setting of Horse Guards Parade, whereby a trial took place this week to make sure everything was in place for the big day.

A spokesman for Betfair said of the new deal...

'We want to ensure that our advertising campaign is seen and remembered by as many sports fans as possible and as far as we know this is the first time QR codes have been used (in this way).'

Betfair, as well as having one of the best uk casinos and betting exchanges, are known for their outlandish branding - in 2006 the company decked the approached to a German airport with the world record for the biggest flower bed design - a huge Betfair logo made entirely of tulips - and duly made headlines and the record books in the process.
