Betfair Launches Approved Betting Apps

One of the leading online casinos and betting exchanges has become the first gambling company to have downloadable betting apps approved by the Apple iPhone App Store.

Hammersmith based Betfair has bucked the trend when it comes to iBetting apps, which have persistently been rejected by the software giant, thought to be because of the US online betting ban of October 2006.

But the fully downloadable betting app for iphone from Betfair means customers can log into the betting exchanges from their iphones if they access the service from the UK or Ireland.

A spokesman for Betfair said of the new betting app...

'We approached Apple with the proposal and our app, showing it does the normal KYC and age verification. We have also added the ability to locate where the customer is. It can tell if you are in the UK or Ireland, and if you’re not, it won’t function.'

There have been many gambling info services launched by gambling companies, such as Ladbrokes and William Hill.

With the news of Apple's approval, the gold rush will be on for many of the best uk casinos and sportsbooks to get their own betting apps approved.
