Casino Apps Suffering Down Under

In what will be a blow to many of the biggest and best UK casinos and poker rooms, a report this week has hit the headlines over here, from down under, after poker and casino apps were banned on Apple's iTunes store.

Among the worst hit were poker apps for iPhones and iPads, after Apple Australia decided to ban betting apps - including big UK poker brands such as 888 Poker and Poker Stars.

Whilst not confirmed officially, it is thought that casino apps and betting apps from other UK casinos could be affected down under, including the likes of 32Red Casino and Sportsbet - a subsidiary of Paddy Power.

The issue has even made the headlines within the local Government, after a senior politician got involved in the debate, being quoted as saying...

'We don't allow online poker in Australia for Australian people under the Interactive Gambling Act. Apple therefore have an obligation to take down betting apps that are against Australian law.'

It is thought that the taking down of such poker and casino apps applies only to casino operators from outside of Australia - something that the Government have been working towards for some time now as more and more online casino sites and poker sites look to make Australia a new territory for their casino apps.

In response to the taking down of their poker app, Poker Stars simply had this to say...

'We are aware that there are currently issues updating our mobile app in the Australian iTunes marketplace.'

Some of the biggest and best casinos in the UK have casino apps that they offer for free around the world via Apple's iTunes marketplace, including the likes of 32Red Casino app and Gala Casino.
