Casinos, Bookies and Banks Lead Shirt Sponsorships

A new report on the state of sponsorship within European football has revealed that when it comes to shirts, some of the best uk casinos and sportsbooks lead the way.

The Wall Street Journal argues that sponsorship deals are now hugely important when it comes to the financial success of a club - with huge seven figure deals being signed off by some if the biggest names in the online casinos game.

The report shows an 18% rise in revenues from shirt deals across the continent despite the recession.

French operator BetClic is the biggest spender, with Juventus, Marseille and Lyon amongst their teams. The biggest deal though is between Real Madrid and Austrian-based Bwin - in what is thought to be a massive £23m per season.

In the UK gambling dominates more than ever, with seven teams adorning bookies or casinos in the Premiership, as well as in the lower leagues such as Swansea City (32Red) and Nottingham Forest (Victor Chandler).
