Eastenders Breaks All TV Betting Records

A live episode of one of the UK's favourite soap operas has broken all records for betting on a TV show, a leading UK bookie has reported.

The BBC's Eastenders is celebrating it's 25th anniversary, which culminated in a live show where the identity of Archie Mitchell's murderer was revealed - Stacey Branning.

A spokesman for Ladbrokes, the brand behind one of the best uk casinos and sportbooks, announced last night that the show created the biggest betting market they had ever seen or a TV show...

'The country went into meltdown; all our records were smashed, with every punter in the UK betting on the Archie storyline.'

Stacey Branning was an 8/1 outsider to be the murderer, with her on-screen big brother Sean Slater the 11/4 bookies favourite. All cast members of the show did not know who would be revealed as the killer, until 15 minutes before the live show aired on TV.

The result meant a collective sigh of relief from the UK bookies, as Ladbrokes was keen to point out...

'Very few people cottoned on to Stacey as the killer. We feel we've got away with murder.'

Leading Irish bookmaker Paddy Power was also betting in running on the outcome throughout the show, which caused it's website to crash at one point with the number of customers trying to bet on the show.
