Grannys Grand Bet Upsets Bookies

The Olympic Games may have come and gone but a British woman who's grandson competed at London 2012 has this week won a battle of her own against one of the best uk bookies online.

The bookie in question is Betfred, who refused to pay out to Olympic Medalist Sam Oldham's grandmother, after she placed a £5 bet on him winning a medal at the games.

After watching her grandson scoop bronze in the Men's Gynastics Team Event, she went down to her local bookie to claim a cool £1,000. However, the uk bookie refused to see things the same way, claiming that the bet was not a winning one as Sam was part of a five man team - whilst the bet struck was for individual glory.

A quite rightly upset Mrs Oldham too umbrage to this decision and after contacting the local press, went to IBAS and after consulting Fred Done's management, the bowed to public pressure and agreed to pay a grand out.

A spokesman for the company was not available at time of going to press, but it is thought that after the decision was made, they called it the 'right thing to do'.
