Haughey Bids Online To Poker Gold

A former WSOP Champion has gratiously given away one of online poker's most coveted prizes - a winners poker bracelet - which has been snapped up for charity.

2008 WSOP winner Peter Eastgate is the man to give up his bracelet, which is given to every winner of the main event at the annual WSOP championships.

The bracelet, which was placed in eBay on behalf of the UNICEF charity, was snapped up by the Scotiish philanthropist William Haughey - for a shade under $150,000.

Haughey, a CEO and owner of a multi-million pound company in Scotland, bought the bracelet as a way to donate efficiently to charity, noting that he did not particularly want the bracelet, nor would he have spent more than $50,000 normally - but that it was such a good cause, he has to place the winning bid.

But he does have plans for the bracelet - it is thought that the gong will be put up as a prize during the 2012 WSOP, whereby poker players will have the chance to win the iconic piece of jewellery. Not only that, Haughey has vowed to match the buy-in to the tournament, which organisers estimate to be around $1M.
