Hills Pulls Out Of French Market

One of the UK's biggest online bookmakers has today announced that it would stop accepting bets from players following a ruling in the one of the biggest countries in the world.

Gibraltar based William Hill has pulled the plug on it's French service, after the French government approved new eGaming laws to allow regulated and licensed bookmakers to offer fixed odds bets over the internet.

In a statement from one of the best uk casinos online said it was unsure if they would themselves apply for a new license...

'In conjunction with the changes to the regulatory regime in France, William Hill Online is considering whether to apply for a licence to offer permitted online gambling products to French residents.'

As part of an update to the City, William Hill also went on to mention that the pulling out of France would not have a huge impact on their performance for 2010, which has started favourably thanks to a particularly tough Cheltenham Festival for punters.

Hills' decision follows SportingBet, who closed their French service earlier this week, following a joint-venture with French daily newspaper Le Monde.
