Online Casino Says Au Revoir To France

One of the best uk casinos and sportsbook has confirmed that they will not be entering the newly formed French gambling market - despite two high profile ventures.

Despite partnerships with both Le Monde and L'Express media groups, London based Sportingbet has been forced to take stock and wait for their entry into the highly regulated market.

Blaming the said regulation, a top exec at the uk bookie said that if a good profit was not achievable then an alliance was unlikely...

“Our intention at the moment is to go in as a business-to-consumer, we are not looking to partner. At the moment we are waiting with us to see what is happening in the marketplace. At some point, we decide we are not going in, or it’s not going to happen for another two years, then it will be up to Le Monde and L’Express to reappraise their position.”

Despite rumours that it was actually Sportingbet's inability to get their technical house in order, the spokesman confirmed that their systems would becresdy for Q2 of 2011 - but their licence application would very much depend on the bottom line...

“We understand the tax, we think we understand the licence fees; it’s a question of what is being passed onto the consumers and what our competitors are taking as losses."

There are currently six licensed online bookmakers, headed by the Mangas Gaming owned BetClic.
