A spokesman for the Flanders Research Centre of Gambling said of the study...

'The centre will be part of the national research response, enabling us to devise a preventative approach at a population and public health level to the problems gambling can create.'

He was also quick to point out that work was ongoing but more in-depth studies was need...

We already undertake some research, but there is an urgent need to quantify and define the extent and nature of broader gambling-related issues in our society.'

Australians love to gamble and whilst anecdotally the extend of problem gambling at online casinos seems to be disproportionately large, it is thought this research will determine the current levels once and for all.
