Race Is On For Approved Betting Apps

Some of the best known online bookies are very much in the race to be the latest online gambling firm to have a betting app for iPhone approved by the revolutionary media company, Apple.

Whilst both companies have their websites adapted to fit within the Safari browser on iPhone handsets, heading the list to launch an app is Gibraltar based bookmakers William Hill - who have confirmed with eGaming Magazine that they have submitted to Apple their first betting app for the iphone earlier this month.

The downloadable betting app will be a World Cup predictor that will allow it's customers to place real bets on the what is being regarded as the biggest betting event the world has ever seen.

Hot on the heels of Hills is fellow bedfellows on the Rock, Ladbrokes who hope to have their own betting apps for the ipad approved before the first match on June 11st. A spokesman for the company said of the race to launch their app...

'It's one thing having a web application, another thing having one through the iPhone Store - it has a different functionality - our web app is popular with our customers but launching an app through the store is a whole different kind of market.'

The race to be the first ever approved betting app for iphone was won by UK betting exchange Betfair, with the Australian tote Tabcorp coming in a close second.
