Russian Routs to New World Record of Poker

Hot on the heels of Full Tilt Poker setting the world record for the biggest online poker pot, one of the best uk poker rooms and fierce rivals Poker Stars have got in on the act as well this week, with a Russian poker demon.

Using the screen name 'innerspy', the 22-year-old Russian takes the poker term 'grinder' to a whole new level, after he managed to to play a mind-boggling 40,088 poker hands in just over 18 hours - a new world record for online poker.

Such poker hand form is not new to the player, having racked up over 18,000 in a similar time recently, but this new effort was more than double that, having taken up a challenge via a Russian poker forum site.

Commenting on his retina burning feat on the official Poker Stars blog, 'innerspy' was full of personal pride...

'Before this challenge, I had never actually played more than 20,000 hands in a day before, but the idea came up and I just figured I could do it. It was one of the toughest things I have ever accomplished, but I am proud I managed it. I gained a lot of experience doing this and will definitely try it again in order to improve upon my result'.
